Why become an SVS Member?
One thing I ask of the Lord. This I long to dwell in the house of the Lord,
all the days of my
life.

I attended an SVS meeting and was asked to join. I decided I was just too busy. The next weekend when my kids and I were at the outskirt of the town, we went to a scheduled 10:30 Mass to learn it was only a Communion Service because the priest could only come every other week. I complained bitterly to my wife and she reminded me that I needed to do something to help eliminate the problem instead of complain about it. I went back home and joined SVS. I am working to increase vocations in the future and glad to spend my time to improve things. What about you?
I am in SVS because I get a lot of personal satisfaction and gratification from doing the work of the Lord, for the Harvest. I enjoy working at being of some support to the Laborers for the Harvest.
SVS activity is a ministry. I enjoy giving my time and efforts to the Lord for the blessings I receive.

Dear Benefactors, Friends, and Well-Wishers, the Dominican Province of St Joseph the Worker, Nigeria and Ghana, warmly invites you to a historic and grace-filled celebration on Saturday, 18th July 2026, at the Dominican Community, Samonda, Ibadan, as we commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Presence of the Dominican Order in Nigeria. This joyful occasion will also feature the Ordination of Eleven (11) Dominican Priests and Ten (10) Deacons, a remarkable sign of God’s continued blessing upon the Church and the Dominican mission. As valued partners in the promotion of vocations through your prayers, sacrifices, encouragement, and generous support, we wish to inform and specially invite you to share in this celebration of thanksgiving for seventy-five years of Dominican preaching, service, and evangelization in Nigeria and to witness the ordination of these new ministers for the service of God’s people. Your presence will be a great source of encouragement to the ordinands and a beautiful expression of your commitment to the growth of vocations in the Church. We look forward to celebrating this memorable milestone with you and praying together in gratitude for all that God has accomplished and continues to accomplish through the Dominican mission in Nigeria.
